Welcome to the Soprema Senior Center!

A Senior Center Without Walls

The Soprema Senior Center takes great pride in offering traditional senior programming paired with a wide array of new and innovative opportunities. We serve the 55+ plus population of Wadsworth and surrounding communities. We reopened our doors on July 1, 2021, after a temporary shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and continue to operate as a “Senior Center without Walls” by providing many opportunities that allow members (membership is free!) to participate in a variety of traditional and contemporary programs and activities in a number of different ways. These include:

  • In-person
  • Virtual (Zoom)
  • Remote (phone, drive-by, etc.)

Have you heard of the new term “hybrid” yet? While some of our programs are offered only in person or only on Zoom, we now have new technology that lets seniors choose how they would like to participate in certain programs:

  • In-person at the Center
  • On Zoom from anywhere

With a hybrid program, no matter which way you choose to participate, everyone has fun together! Be sure to check out our current newsletter for program descriptions by pressing the link on the left of this page! To RSVP for programs, feel free to stop by in person, emails us at, or give us a call at 330-335-1513. Not a member yet? Stop in to fill out a new member form and receive your member keytag! You can also sign up to become a new member online by clicking on the “new member” link on the left of this page.

The Soprema Café is open to the public!

The City of Wadsworth has partnered with Medina Creative Housing (MCH) as the new food service operator for the Soprema Café.  The Soprema Cafe reopened their doors on November 15, 2021 and offer healthy breakfast and lunch options, delicious pastries, beverages and more! The folks at MCH currently own and operate the successful Grande Café & Roastery in Medina and are noted for their homemade pastries, breakfast, and lunch offerings that feature fresh produce from their own hydroponic greenhouse. They offer fresh coffee with specialty beans sourced directly from the growers and roasted locally at the Grande Café & Roastery!

As a local nonprofit organization, Medina Creative Housing and its affiliate Medina Creative Accessibility provide a rewarding, paid work program for individuals with developmental disabilities. Please join us in welcoming MCH to the Soprema Café.

Café patrons are able to enjoy their meals in our newly remodeled dining areas, as well as outdoors in the beautiful new pavilion, thanks to the generosity of the Wadsworth Older Adult Foundation. Improvements to the café include fresh paint, new flooring and seating, the addition of a cozy fireplace, and installation of a beautiful pavilion on the patio adjacent to the dining area. The Soprema Café is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm and is open to the public...come visit soon!

Safety Continues to be a Priority

Safety continues to be a top priority at the Soprema Senior Center during this ongoing pandemic. The Center continues to adhere to all guidance from the City of Wadsworth administration and the Medina County Health Department. Contactless hand sanitizing stations can be found throughout the Center as well as sanitizing wipe stations. In the restrooms, multiple paper towels and soap dispensers have been installed. Signs are at the doors suggesting that masks are strongly recommended for anyone not vaccinated. Disposable masks are also available for anyone who asks for one at the front desk. Masks are welcome to be worn by anyone, regardless of vaccination status. Tables are regularly sanitized. Accommodations can be made in any program for solo seating as requested. Everyone’s comfort level is very important to us!

National award-winning videographer (and Wadsworth Older Adults Foundation Board member) Jenny Young of SHE Did It Videography  led one of our innovative Zoom programs called "Video Fun with SHE Did It Videography" during the COVID shut down.   SSC members learned how to take a video of themselves and email it as part of a collaborative community message.
