The City of Wadsworth Electric and Communication Department received the Certificate of Excellence in Reliability and a first-place Safety Award, both of which are presented by the American Public Power Association (APPA). The Certificate of Excellence in Reliability recognizes utilities that placed in the top 25 percentile of reliability nationwide in 2019, as measured against the U.S. Energy Information Administration's (EIA) data. The APPA Safety Awards recognize utilities with the lowest safety incidence rate within their group of like-sized utilities in 2019.

The City of Wadsworth competed in the national America in Bloom (AIB) contest for the first time in 2019 and received the "Best Use of Social Media" Award at the 2019 America in Bloom Symposium and Awards celebration in St. Charles, Illinois.

THE DEADLINE TO FILE YOUR WADSWORTH CITY TAX RETURN IS: APRIL 15, 2026

Taxpayers also can drop off City income tax documents at City Hall in a sealed envelope with the drop-off form. These can be found at the table on the first floor in City Hall. Be sure to include all W-2 Forms from all employers, and W-2G and 1099-MISC Forms, page one and Schedule 1 of your Federal Form 1040, and schedules C, E, F and K-1 (if applicable.)  Envelopes can be dropped in the Income Tax window slot weekdays 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or placed in the utility payment drop slot inside City Hall after hours. All documents provided will be returned to you.

If you moved during the year, provide all addresses where you lived. If your tax liability is $200 or more, we will contact you regarding estimated tax payments for the current year. You will be contacted to pick up your paperwork once the return is filed. If there is a balance due, payment instructions will be included.

Help with your local taxes is available with City personnel between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.   The City Income Tax Office is located on the first floor in City Hall.  

Alternatively, you can use the resources at www.ritaohio.com to see where RITA's in-person assistance is available, to file your return, or to get the tax forms you need. If you have questions or need assistance, call the RITA Help Desk at 800.860.7482, or the City's Tax Office at 330.335.2745.

SANITATION SERVICES

• THE USE OF TRANSFER STATION: Drop off trash between regular pickups or bring large bulk items to the Transfer Station. The facility is open Monday - Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM and Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM. It is located at 165 Auble Street.
• BULK ITEM PICKUP: You can request a pickup of a bulk materials for an additional cost. More information and pricing can be found on the Sanitation Department page at WadsworthCity.com
• DUMPSTER RENTALS: 8 cu. ft. yard dumpsters are available to be rented for your short-term remodeling or housecleaning needs!
• HAVING A PARTY: The $25 Party Plan provides three 96 gallon carts rentals for three days!
• RECYCLING: Recycling in Wadsworth is coordinated by the Medina County Solid Waste District using single-stream drop-off bins placed throughout the county. The Wadsworth bins are located at the Transfer Station at 165 Auble Street.

YARD WASTE COLLECTION

The winter yard waste collection and brush pick-up program is offered on the third Tuesday of each month until April. Customers must call the Transfer Station at (330) 335-2847 at least 24 hours in advance to request a pick-up. All yard waste must be placed on the street by 11:30 p.m. on the night before pickup. Yard waste stickers are available year-round for $2 each at the following locations:

• City Hall Utility Office
• Discount Drug Mart
• Transfer Station
• Wadsworth Buehler’s
• Wadsworth Giant Eagle

SERVICE REQUEST FORMS

Need to report an issue, ask a question, or request City services? Submit your non emergency request through the online Service Request Form on the City’s website. Your request goes directly to the right department and is reviewed Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Someone will follow up with you as needed to ensure it’s addressed.

WIRELESS EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM (WENS)

We encourage all residents, friends, and families within Wadsworth to take the time to register to receive mass notification messaging from the WENS system. You can receive alerts by text, phone, or email. Alert types include tornados, earthquakes, law enforcement messages, civil dangers, and more!

Congratulations to Officer Marc Gramley, Wadsworth’s February Employee of the Month.

Since joining the Wadsworth Police Department in January 2024, Officer Gramley has made a powerful impact through his dedication, professionalism, and proactive approach to public safety. His consistent efforts in narcotics interdiction have significantly reduced narcotics activity in our community, and his strong investigative instincts, sound decision-making under pressure, and clear understanding of targeted enforcement have earned high praise.

In 2025, he led the department in OVI arrests and remains committed to keeping our roadways safe. Officer Gramley is known for his positive attitude, motivated work ethic, and team-first mindset. Recognized by his peers as a true team player, he was also named Officer of the Month in both December 2024 and February 2025.

We thank Officer Gramley for his outstanding service and commitment to the City of Wadsworth.
