Hired by Wadsworth City Council in 2004, Clerk Tammy Guenther has been appointed to ten consecutive terms. She helps to manage day-to-day operations of the Council office. She advertises and attends meetings, produces agendas and prepares and preserves public records. She assists citizens and interfaces with City Administration on behalf of Council. As described in the Ohio Revised Code, she fulfills a number of statutory duties for Wadsworth, such as the recording of annexations.
Ms. Guenther has worked for more than 30 years in the non-profit sector, including city government, college admissions, and as director for two community-based non-profits. She received her Municipal Clerk Certification (2006) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks in cooperation with Kent State University.
Ms. Guenther earned her Master of Science degree from Springfield College (Massachusetts) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Akron. She is also a certified yoga instructor and reflexology practitioner. She completed a four-year, “Education for Ministry” course (2011) through the University of the South (Tennessee) and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Akron.
Ms. Guenther currently serves as a member of the Wadsworth Shade Tree Commission and often teaches yoga on a volunteer basis.
Born in Akron, Ms. Guenther lived for many years in Vermont, and has been a resident of Wadsworth for the last 18 years. Her two sons live and work in Maryland and Colorado.
