Dry Basement Program

About the Program

On November 15, 2011, Wadsworth City Council adopted an ordinance to establish a Dry Basement Program to provide limited reimbursement to owners of residential property for investigation and construction costs to mitigate problems related to stormwater inflow into the sanitary sewer system and public health hazards associated with sanitary sewer backflow into homes.

Selected Participants

Those selected as participants in the program may be reimbursed for up to 50% of approved construction costs with each residential property limited to a total payment of $2,500 (including no more than $1,000 for the investigation of the problem).

Awards for selected applicants will be made on a quarterly basis, as determined by selection criteria and budgeted dollars. Application deadlines are December 31st, March 31st, June 30th, and September 30th. Applicants not selected need not re-apply to be considered in the future.

All property owners may benefit from the information included in the Sanitary Sewer Backup Handbook available at the link below; even if you do not experience sewer backups, you may, quite unknowingly, be contributing to the problems.
