Free Income Tax Assistance
AT THIS TIME, ALL IN-PERSON INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE IS SUSPENDED, INCLUDING AT CITY HALL. PLEASE USE THE RESOURCES AT WWW.RITAOHIO.COM TO FILE YOUR RETURN OR GET THE TAX FORMS YOU NEED. Taxpayers can drop off income tax documents in a sealed envelope with your name, phone number and email address on the front of the envelope. Be sure to include W-2 Forms from all employers, and W-2G and 1099-MISC Forms, page one and Schedule 1 of your Federal Form 1040, and schedules C, E, F and K-1 (if applicable.) Envelopes are available in City Hall, and can be placed in the utility payment drop slot inside City Hall. All documents provided will be returned to you.
If you moved during the year, provide all addresses where you lived. If your tax liability is $200 or more, we will contact you regarding estimated tax payments for the current year. You will be contacted to pick up your paperwork once the return is filed. If there is a balance due, payment instructions will be included.
PLEASE NOTE: We no long accept completed tax forms or estimated tax payments in the Tax Office. All documents must be mailed to RITA. The postmark is considered the filing date.
The deadline to file your Wadsworth City tax return is normally April 15. However, for 2020 tax returns due in 2021, the deadline was extended by the State of Ohio to MAY 17, 2021.
When City Hall has been re-opened, free help will be available with personal income tax returns (excluding net profit returns) and other issues which may arise with regard to City income tax. The City Income Tax Office is located on the first floor in City Hall, and is open weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We do not take appointments. Persons stopping in are assisted on a first-come, first-served basis, and wait times may vary, please plan for such a possibility.
After tax season, and once City Hall has been re-opened, please call 330.335.2745 to confirm that someone will be available when you would like to come in.
At this time, RITA is not offering in person tax assistance at any of their locations.
