Recent Lead Issues in the News
Due to events across the country, The City of Wadsworth has recently performed precautionary testing for lead. These tests have returned with no violations. We have been testing for lead since 1992, as required by the EPA, with no violations.
Lead in Drinking Water
The City of Wadsworth is responsible for providing high quality drinking water, but cannot control the variety of materials used in plumbing components. Lead in drinking water is primarily from materials and components associated with service lines and home plumbing. If present, elevated levels of lead can cause serious health problems, especially for pregnant women and young children.
When your water has been sitting for several hours, you can minimize the potential for lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using for drinking or cooking. If you are concerned about lead in your water or have any other water related questions, please call our Water Treatment Plant and speak to one of our licensed operators at 330-335-2832.
If you have received an Unknown letter and wish to submit a photo of your service line where it enters through the wall, before the meter, please email the image to Derrick Shriver at dshriver@wadsworthcity.org. Upon review, if the service material can be identified, we will update our records accordingly.
